Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced professional to be engaged as a Lead, Carbon Market to explore and
leverage carbon and climate outcomes for different climate action activities in nature based solutions, energy
efficiency, biodiversity etc.
As a senior team member of the Intellecap Climate Team, S/he oversee and guide a team that is working on a)
developing high quality carbon and climate outcomes; b) undertaking end-to-end carbon project
management from origination to monetisation; and c) building the carbon market ecosystem by providing
knowledge and advisory services.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead in development and implementation of carbon projects for the VCM especially focused on nature-based solutions, energy efficiency and waste management (including feasibility assessment of carbon projects, identification of appropriate methodology and standards, assessment of carbon stock/sequestration potential, partnerships with buyers/investors/project developers, and carbon credit transaction in accordance with existing laws/regulations
- Lead the development of innovative investment vehicles/approaches for leveraging carbon finance in partnership with other policy and finance experts, including project development and transaction design, structuring, fundraising and execution
- Monitor carbon markets and stay up to date on market trends, developments, and best practices
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to colleagues and partners on carbon project
development and carbon financing approaches
Experience/ Education:
- 10 Plus years of experience in climate practice, with specialization in carbon financing/carbon
project development and market/policy research on VCM and compliance markets - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant science, management, or social science discipline, with a
focus on environmental issues.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of voluntary and compliance carbon markets (i.e., regulations/policies,
methodology developments, market and pricing trends, demand/supply scenarios etc.) - Experience in developing and managing carbon projects specifically in the areas of nature-based
solutions, energy efficiency and waste management - Demonstrated experience in GHG accounting/estimation as per methodologies defined under
varied independent carbon crediting mechanisms (especially VCS, Gold Standard and Plan Vivo) - Strong project management skills, with the capability to manage multiple projects and priorities
simultaneously - Ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders, including Indian policymakers, carbon
project developers, investors and buyers - Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills as well as experience in business
development and high professional standards. - Proficiency in English language (with preference for fluency in multiple languages)
