Prior to serving SEBI as its Chairman, he was the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Unit Trust of India Asset Management Company (UTIAMC), commonly referred to as UTI Mutual Fund. During his stint at UTI Mutual Fund, he created Ascent Fund Manager as a joint venture between Private Individuals and UTI AMC. Mr Sinha is also a member of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), belonging to the Bihar Cadre.
